Visabeira Global has just acquired a French company

Visabeira Global has just acquired a French company - GATEL, with an annual turnover of about 5 million Euros.

In fact, Gatel is active in the field of industrial electrical networks and power grids in road and railway tunnels, providing services to large French public works companies, namely to CEGELEC, ETDE, SPIE, CLAMECY, SNCF French Railways, and AREA Motorways of the South of France, as such companies are also especially present in the European, African, American, Asian, and Middle East markets.

This acquisition aims at strengthening and diversifying Visabeira’s presence in France, a country where the Portuguese Group already holds a significant business operation in the telecommunications sector.

At the same time, negotiations are underway so that, in the near future, Visabeira Global can establish an important partnership (in Paris) for FTTH (Fiber Optic) markets with VINCI, a French company, world leader in the provision of services in the Construction and Public Works sector.

Constuctel will double its turnover next year. Also in France, Constructel, a Visabeira Global company, quite strong in the field of telecommunication networks, has just been awarded several contracts with its main partner, France Telecom. These new contracts are an important indicator of the degree of confidence the French telecommunications "giant" has in Constructel, enabling us to foresee that its annual turnover can rise to about 25 million Euros next year, i.e. more than twice the 2008 figure.

The project for the construction of Constructel’s headquarters in France is also underway, a project worth about 1 million Euros.

Visabeira Global

The Visabeira Group has also reorganised its business areas, and concentrated in the sub-holding Visabeira Global SGPS, SA the companies that were already part of it, plus others that are quite complementary.

In addition, last November 10th, 2008, the latter’s name was amended to Visabeira Global SGPS, SA, in order to better reflect its positioning, simultaneously guided by a comprehensive service offering, and by a strong multinational presence:

Visabeira Global SGPS, SA was established in order to concentrate under the same coordination, all the business in the telecommunications, energy, technology, and construction sectors. The purpose of this amendment, was to gain significant synergies from the complementarity of skills, know-how and service portfolio, by creating added dynamics, by providing integrated solutions tailored to the specific needs of customers and partners. Visabeira Global SGPS, SA is thus organized into 4 business areas:

Telecommunications - Comprising companies operating in an integrated manner in various levels of the sector’s value chain, from engineering networks (design, installation, management, and infrastructure maintenance), to marketing of products and services. It also owns cable digital TV, broadband internet and voice carriers, in Mozambique and Angola.

Energy - This business area includes several companies with consolidated expertise in multiple fields of production (in which CHP stands out), distribution of energy resources (both in electricity, gas and renewable energy), and also in building and maintaining networks and infrastructures.

Technologies - The technology business area brings together reference companies in the development of highly complex and diversified solutions and services, namely in areas such as information and communication systems, mobility, innovation management, georeferencing, among others, while it also includes companies dedicated to the research and development of technological solutions for companies in a wide variety of business sectors.

Construction - The Construction business area includes companies that complement each other by intervening at different stages of the value chain, recognised for their high standards and quality of service, and for their ability to fully integrate the different specialties. Taken together, they hold consolidated know-how that includes design, construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of buildings and infrastructures, and have developed works of great breadth and complexity, among which it is worth highlighting the most recent one - the Palácio do Gelo Shopping Center. This is a good example of Visabeira Global SGPS, SA’s ability to integrate multiple skills and competencies, from design and project development to construction.

In short, this initiative reflects the constant attention of the Visabeira Group to the current, increasingly demanding and competitive reality, representing yet another important step on the path to sustained growth and of the necessary preparation to take up increasing challenges in the near future.
